That One Thing You Need In Every Article
When you’re creating content, who are you creating for?
Yourself? Your mum? Friends? Lover?
For whoever it is, there is one constant fact: they’re all human.
Think about your favourite writer, blogger, filmmaker. Often times, when you analyse their work, you realise that you’re drawn to them because it speaks out to you. There’s a sense of… Human Touch.
Someone once told me something similar to “you may not have the English capability but you understand how people think and feel”.
And that stuck with me.
Unless you’re writing a thesis or an academic paper, you need to put yourself in the readers’ shoes. What do they want to know? How can you provide the most value without losing their attention? What would be beneficial for them? How can they apply what you’ve wrote in their own life?
For example, I write a lot of reviews for my day job. Instead of spitting facts and specifications, I share my real life experiences using the product. I share what and how they can use the item in their daily lives. My goal is to allow the readers to visualise whether the item is suitable for them.
Unleash Your 5 Senses
To make your content relatable to your readers, use phrases that triggers their 5 senses. What are the 5 senses? Sight, smell. touch, hear & taste.
Most of the time, you’ll only use 1 or 2 of the senses in your article. Here’s an example of how I described a product for my tech review site, “DueDee”.

Another example would be a food commercial.

Just the zzzzz sound of the beef hitting the grill sounds delicious. After watching that, I’m craving for a whopper.
BUT THAT’S A VIDEO. WHAT ABOUT ARTICLES?

“with the fats providing extra juiciness”
Can you feel it in your mouth? That’s what I’m talking about! If you are able to get that reaction from your readers, you win.
