On The Voice, Johnny Bliss gave a strong serious rendition of “Alive” by Sia for his knockout performance. Alicia Keys said both have electric energies. Alicia noted Miya’s runs are beautiful. Alicia said Johnny poured everything into his performance. Alicia picked Johnny as the winner of the knockout round.

Blake Shelton said Johnny needs to go back to the fun stuff. Blake said Miya did not quite live up to what she is capable of doing. Adam Levine said Johnny has such a voice. Adam said he is always rooting for Miya as she was on his team. Kelly Clarkson said Miya’s voice has so much potential. Kelly said it was cool that Johnny did something serious.

Miya originally followed in her family’s footsteps and went into training to become a full-time officer with the NYPD. In her final semester, she made the bold decision to leave and pursue a career in music instead. This new direction led Miya to jobs as a dance and music instructor with an arts program for the Sports and Arts in Schools Foundation and, later, a program director for the New York Junior Tennis League. In the past year, Miya quit her job to sing with an 11-piece funk band called Funktion 11 while also returning to college.

Growing up as a young gay man was not easy for Johnny. He felt a lot of pressure from his conservative Dominican and Puerto Rican family and insensitive peers. His voice was the one thing he was confident in, and it was this confidence that helped him come out to his family at 18. Now more comfortable with his future, Johnny has been running karaoke nights and participating in the music scene in New York City. Johnny is currently singing for his #1 fan and supporter – his grandma, whose breast cancer recently resurfaced.

The Voice Knockout Round Social Media Reactions

The four-time Emmy Award-winning “The Voice” returns with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the blockbuster vocal competition show’s new season. Superstar singer-songwriter Clarkson makes her debut as a coach this season, with Season 12-winning coach and musical icon Keys taking a red chair alongside the show’s returning coaches, Levine and Shelton, and host Carson Daly.

Once the teams are set, the battle is on.

The coaches dedicate themselves to developing their teams of artists, giving them advice and sharing the secrets of their success, along with help from their celebrity advisers. During the battle rounds, the coaches pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together in front of a studio audience. After the vocal battle, the coach must choose which of his or her singers will advance to the next round of competition, while the losing artist is available to be stolen by another coach. Each coach has two steals available during the battle rounds.
