The Power of Social Media Polls

Social media polls are becoming more and more prominent. If you’re using them, then great, if you’re not using them, then I suggest you start using them ASAP.

Polls allow you to tap into the minds of others. If you’re any kind of business, they are a great way to see what your consumers want from you.

Find out the interest of your followers, what they like, what they don’t like, etc…and use this information for your content strategy. Your consumers would be very pleased if they start seeing your content based on their interest.

Social media polling is just simply the easiest way to get the opinions of others. Maybe you’re about to launch a new product and want to get some feedback from potential consumers. Run a poll and hear their thoughts about it. Maybe they think it could be improved by adding a few things which you take into consideration.

Polls are just a really great way to see what your consumers think you can improve on. There’s no better way to see what you can improve than hearing from the people buying from you.

What platforms support polling?

Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram have a polling feature. Instagram’s polling feature is in the stories application. You can do a Twitter poll right from the timeline, while Facebook is a little bit more complicated.

This can only be done on a business page FYI. Anyway, click on “Event, Product, Job” and under that you will find “Create a poll for people to vote.”

Creating a poll on Twitter

To create a poll on Twitter, all you have to do is click on the button to publish a tweet.

Click the one to the right of GIF and boom, you can create your poll. It’s extremely simple.

Creating a poll on Instagram

To create a poll on Instagram, you have to do it in Instagram stories as I said previously. All you have to do is swipe up and find the category that says “poll” and then conduct your poll from there.

Be personable/be casual

Immerse yourself in your community. I talk about this a lot but don’t be just strictly business on social media. Polls are a fantastic way to find out what your consumers like on a personal level. The odds of some of your consumers being into sports is pretty high. Do some polls asking what their favorite sport is, their favorite team, their favorite player(s). This will make you seem a lot more personable and approachable if you act human and show you care about them. So bottom line, get to know the people that are buying from you or the people interested in buying from you.

Don’t try to force the “casual” part, but try your best to fit in with everyone else. Conducting polls is a great way to seem like your “one of them”. Don’t overload your consumers with business content though. That’s a big no-no.

The most important part is listening. Absorb the information your consumers are telling you through these polls.

Then put this information into action and curate your content around their interests.

Use polls to your advantage. They may just be the best way to understand the feelings of your consumers. They’re the modern day survey on social media. They’re quick and easy to conduct, so you really have no excuse to not use them. Learn from your followers. Listen to them. They may just be the guiding hand you need to reach the next level.
