The third couple to go home as part of week three’s triple elimination during “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” is Chris Mazdzer and partner Witney Carson. Jennie Finch and Keo Motsepe and Mirai Nagasu and Alan Bersten were also eliminated.

Tonight, the couple danced an elegant foxtrot to “I Got Rhythm” and scored a 33 out of 40. He also went head to head with Josh Norman in the dance-off round, but fell to the NFL cornerback. Last week, the couple danced a touching Viennese waltz to “Next To Me” and earned 33 points. During the premiere, Mazdzer danced a spirited salsa to “Mr. Put It Down,” which received 21 out of 30 points. Ultimately, however, he fell just short of next week’s finale.

Mazdzer is an Olympic luger. According to ABC, “Chris made history becoming the first-ever American athlete to win a medal in the Men’s Single Luge event” at this year’s Winter Olympics. He “is continuing his training and intends to compete for Team USA one last time in 2022, in what will be his fourth Olympic Games.”

“Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” is hosted by Tom Bergeron and sports broadcaster Erin Andrews. The judging panel is composed of ballroom experts Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli. Their scores, along with America’s votes, determine who gets to stay and who is sent home as couples vie for the coveted Mirrorball trophy during the special, four-week season.

The finalists are Olympic figure skater Adam Rippon, NFL star Josh Norman and former figure skater Tonya Harding. The finale of this season’s all-athlete edition of “Dancing with the Stars” airs next Monday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
