Are Ant-Man And The Wasp Reshoots With Evangeline Lilly, Paul Rudd Cause For Concern?

Should fans be concerned that “Ant-Man and the Wasp” is reportedly about to undergo reshoots in Los Angeles regarding the entire opening of the movie? Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man character has been notably absent from the marketing for the upcoming “Avengers: Infinity War.”

The character was last seen in prison following the events in Captain America: Civil War. The sequel to Ant-Man will introduce Evangeline Lilly as The Wasp.

BadTaste via CBM reported that there is nothing unusual about these particular additional photography, which is common practice on large-scale films. According to the report, the opening scene takes place in South America and did not test very well with audiences. Thus, Marvel made the decision to reshoot the whole sequence on location in Los Angeles. This opening scene takes up most of the reshoots.

Certainly, reshoots happen but one cannot forget the entire history behind the making of the original Ant-Man. Edgar Wright’s quirky superhero film made Marvel studio’s Kevin Feige nervous as a dispute over script changes and key crew exits left the release date in question. The move came as a shock because Wright had been working on the project since 2006.

After Ant-Man touched on the idea of the Quantum Realm, Doctor Strange went on to fully explore alternate dimensions. It seems that Captain Marvel will deal with the Quantum Realm as well, but only after Ant-Man & the Wasp further explores that mysterious dimension.

Per Joe Russo’s own words, Ant-Man and the Wasp has events that tie into Avengers: Infinity War. That is fairly significant given that the sequel takes place right between the two Avengers movies, but up until now, fans have not learned any word on how the standalone movie connected to the rest of the Marvel cinema universe. However, the movie is placed in a key position to do just that and it all might have to do with the Quantum Realm and the mysterious whereabouts of Captain Marvel.

Ant-Man and the Wasp also stars Michael Douglas, Michael Peña, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Tip “T.I.” Harris, David Dastmalchian, Hannah John-Kamen, Abby Ryder Fortson, Randall Park, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Laurence Fishburne.

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: “Ant-Man and The Wasp.” In the aftermath of “Captain America: Civil War,” Scott Lang (Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne (Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.

“Ant-Man and the Wasp” hits cinemas on July 6, 2018.

What do you think about reshoots happening for “Ant-Man and the Wasp”? Is this cause for concern for you about the Marvel sequel? What did you think of the trailer? Let us know in the comments section.
