Another Social Network is Here. What Exactly Is It?

There is yet ANOTHER new social media site. And guess what? This one also has great potential (not as big as others but still great potential).

I feel like every other week I’m coming across a new social media platform. I’ve written a few stories about new and upcoming social media sites. And those platforms are still very intriguing to me. Especially Holonis (check out my review of that here).

The platform I want to discuss here is called HearMeOut. I am very intrigued by the concept of this social site.

The creators of this app know what the future wave is going to be. And by wave I mean trend.

Ok, let’s get down to it.

HearMeOut is a platform based solely on audio. As most of you know, audio is the wave of the future. People are getting less and less patient and are relying more on audio to consume information.

Look no further than Audible. Audible, for those of you that are not familiar, is an audiobook medium where you can listen to your favorite books on the go or whenever or wherever the inspiration strikes.

This brings me to HearMeOut. With HearMeOut, you have the option to record whatever it is you want to record with your voice. You have a maximum of 42 seconds to get your message out.

Maybe you want to give some daily motivation to your followers with the use of your voice. Or maybe you want to give some gardening tips every morning. Whatever it is you want to say on this platform, you can do it (please keep it PG).

The app

When you first download the app and open it, this is what you will see (see left).

Say you click on comedy. When you click on it, it compiles a list of the most recent posts with the tag comedy.

You can scroll through the tag and listen to people’s short segments and what they have to say.

Clicking on the star brings you to another news feed. Every time you refresh this category, it has a featured post. Usually, the post is from an influencer. Work your way up the ladder to get to that featured post.

The microphone in the middle of the bottom of the screen allows you to record your own thoughts. The bell is obviously your notifications. And finally, the last category is your profile page.

As you can see, this app is very similar in terms of layout compared to other social sites.

What can you use this platform for?

I don’t believe this platform is going to be massive by any means. But I do believe that it can interrupt the social media industry.

I think it can pull in 50 million to 100 million active users (I’m no expert in determining how many people will eventually use a social network FYI). That is 50–100 million possible extra eyeballs on your content. What’s the harm in producing content on this medium?

Anyway, here’s a few ideas for what you can do on this platform:

  • Podcast summary/blog summary. Leave a link in the description so people can find the full piece.
  • Take your favorite clip from your podcast and put it on HearMeOut. Remember to keep it 42 seconds or shorter.
  • Your tip of the day
  • Daily motivation
  • Your thoughts about the latest sports news

These are just a few examples of what you can do. Whatever you are passionate about, go ahead and tell the world your thoughts in 42 seconds or less.

Conclusion

There is absolutely no harm in testing and playing around with a new social media platform. Give this platform a go and see if it fits your eye. You never know, this could be a huge social site. You don’t want to regret not using this site at the very beginning, do you?

Thanks for reading! I would love to hear your thoughts, so comment below!
