5 Quick Tips to Write a Powerful Conclusion (That Stays in Readers’ Minds)

A catchy headline can bring readers to your writing; an engaging introduction can encourage them to read further, but it is often a conclusion that stays in their minds. If you don’t write a powerful conclusion, you will weaken the whole piece of your writing.

My friend, well begun is half done, and well finished is a job well done. So, regardless of what you’re writing, you should always try to close it with a bang.
But how can you do it?

Well, this is what I’m going to tell in this post. You will know five practical tips that you can easily follow to write powerful closings of your blog posts.

Without further ado let’s dive in:

1- Call it a Conclusion

First thing first, you should call it a conclusion. Instead of readers figuring out themselves, you should let them know that they have reached the closing of the post.

A simple way to do it is to use any of the following words:

  • Conclusion
  • Wrapping it up
  • Final thoughts
  • In summary
  • In closing
  • To summarize

You can choose any words you want to hint readers about the closing of your blog post. I prefer the straightforward word ‘conclusion’ to write a conclusion.

2- Avoid Providing New Information

Great blog posts have defined structures - headlines, introductions, body parts, and conclusions.
In the introduction part of your blog post, you try to hook your readers to your post, and the body of your blog post offers what your headline promised.

Whatever you want to write in support of your blog post headline, write it in the body of your blog post. But avoid providing any new information once you call it a conclusion. There is a reason why it is called a conclusion.

Also, you should not use any image or any quote (if it doesn’t amplify your main point) in the conclusion.

3- Summarize

If you don’t know how to close your article at the right note, adopt the safest way - summarize your post in its conclusion.

Yes, you read it right. Summarizing your main points in the conclusion is a good way to finish your blog post. As you emphasize those points in the conclusion again, your readers are more likely to remember the points.

Either you can go point-by-point or you can summarize your main big idea you explained in the body of your blog post, the choice is yours.

Your readers should be able to understand what you talked about in the body of your blog post by just reading your conclusion.

4- Make it Brief

When readers approach the end of a well-written article, they start to think that the article is going to end.
Therefore, it goes without saying that you should write a short conclusion.

It should end in just a few lines or a few short paragraphs.

And you can easily do it if you don’t try to add any new information to the conclusion of your blog post.

Reserve the conclusion part only for summarizing the main points you explained in the body of your blog post.

5- Use Call-to-Action

Depending on the type of your blog post, you should include a call-to-action (CTA) in the conclusion of your post.

Here are the top 5 CTAs you can start using in the conclusions of your blog posts:

  • Ask for comment /share
  • Ask for subscription
  • Promote an eBook
  • Sell a product/service
  • Encourage readers to read your other posts

You can pick any CTA based on your objective. However, you should make sure that it is relevant to your post.
Also, using multiple CTAs in the conclusion part of your blog is a big turn off for readers.

Conclusion:

Needless to say, a weak conclusion weakens the blog post. If you call it a conclusion, avoid providing any new information, summarize the main points, make it brief, and use call-to-action, there is no reason why you wouldn’t write a good conclusion for your blog post.

What about you? Do you want to share any other tip on writing powerful conclusions? Please leave it in the comment. I’d love to know about it.
